On November 2, 2010, Jemela suffered a heart attack and was placed in a coma but never woke up from it, suffering another heart attack and dying in her sleep eleven days later on November 13 at the age of 71.

On November 23, 2010, her funeral was held at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton, Florida.

Burial

She was interred in The Indoor Air-Conditioned Mausoleum at Temple Beth El Mausoleum in Boca Raton, Florida.

• Despite not having a summer home in North Carolina for three or more years, Jemela wanted to be entombed at Temple Beth El Mausoleum for the sake of Indians (mainly Abby, Olivia and Clampslinger and later in 2013, Allison) being there as well as being with Unchkin, the other Paris at the mausoleum.
